Freedom!

Freedom
Many years ago, on the 15th of August, an announcement by Lord Louis Mount Batten changed the direction of our country. From that night, Indians could sleep peacefully on their beds. If it wasn’t for that blessed day, we cannot imagine our position now. We would have never become the biggest democracy, we would have hardly had any Nobel laureates, India could have never won the world cup (we cannot expect a lagaan team to really defeat any other country), India would have never sent a rocket to space leave alone an astronaut, Bangladesh would have been a country of the past (India tirelessly fought a war with Pakistan to free Bangladesh). Wow. The list keeps going on….

It is simple to come to the point that a country or an organization or an individual can definitely achieve greater heights being free than being enslaved by a force, be it small or powerful. The answer is obvious. But am I being controlled by something? “Ah well…. I don’t really know…” Is that what you say? It could be something as small as your cell phone, the internet, computer games, TV, etc. Haven’t these small man-made sources made you alter the time you go to bed, the time you wake-up, basically your entire lifestyle? Or are you in a position where you just can’t begin the day with a cigarette, end it with drinks, cannot sleep without watching porn? Maybe the things controlling your every act could be out of your emotions. You live to impress your girlfriend/boyfriend, your parents don’t talk with each other anymore, or you are gripped with the fear of your future. “How will I pay my fees?” “Will anyone marry me?”, “Will I ever get a job?”

So who or what is controlling your life? Is it something small or some real-time issue? “Why am I not able to be the person whom I want to be?” Whatever be it my friend, try to answer a simple question. “Am I a SLAVE??” It’s easy to wear a mask and move on with your life, but why should something else control you when you have your own mind, your own heart, you own so many things…

Yes it’s hard to free yourself from the web you have spun around yourselves. Many times you feel as though you are closed inside a box with no windows and you don’t have the key to the door. Is there any way out? Can I live for myself? Is there a way that I can be slave to nothing? Can I be FREE?
The answer is YES! India might have got independence 60 years ago, but a person called Jesus got your independence and mine 2000 years back. “How?” you might ask. Jesus knew that we were trapped by the devil and enslaved by all his wicked and evil schemes. That is why he came into the world. He defeated satan by dying on a cross and won us back. He rose again to show total defeat of the defeated one, and in Him we have total liberty. The Bible in Romans 6 : 16 says that “ Don’t you know that when you offer him as slaves, you are slaves tothe one you obey- whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?”. Again in Romans 6: 18 says that “You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness”. The Bible also says that “If the Son (Jesus) set you free, you are free indeed”. Yes, this God of the Bible is more than able free you from your bondages. The Bible in Psalms 146: 7 says “The Lord sets prisoners free”. Nothing is too hard for Him. No problem too big, no mountain too high, no sea so deep. He has promised in Mathew 11: 28 – “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Happy Independence Day. If you allow Jesus to set you free from your bondages, it would your “The Happiest Independence Day”.
